Now, back to the blog.

T Shaped Kitchen

I had the opportunity to work with a new client on the layout of their T shaped eat in kitchen/diner.

It was a very ususal space which you can read as 'challenging' but working with the 6 zones that I identify in my free checklist - Consumables, Non Consumables, Dining/Entertaining, Cooking, Food Preperation and Cleaning - I was able to layout the space.

Entering the kitchen I created the storage zone which included the large american style fridge freezer housed in a unit to max out the floor to ceiling space. This was flanked on either side with floor to ceiling storage, with adjustable shelves.

I use inspiration images to help the client understand the space, which for the banquet seating was important, as a new idea for them.

Moving then into the cooking zone the only fixed appliance in this space was the range cooker with gas top that the client wanted to keep in its current position.

As part of the initial concept design, I place cabinets to show the space - in the next phase of design I work the client to identify which cabinets should be drawers, pot drawers, shelved cupboards based on their kitchen needs.

I didn't opt for wall cabinets in this space as they will be too overpowering. I opted for open shelves as the client currently decants their dry goods into jars. These can then be displayed on the shelf and be easily accessible when rustling up dinner.

Finally the cleaning zone which features the washer/dryer, sink and integrated dishwasher, with a view out into the outside space.

With all concept design work I also provide a video which helps the client understand the space. You can check out the video for this design below, or click on this link.

Whats next?

The client loved the design, and I will now work with my preferred Kitchen build and installation company to provide an intitial quote.

I will then be working with the client on final layout, colour, cabinets, worktops and finishes.....the list goes on. Providing hand holding through all the decisions so that the clients feel confident through the process and most importantly finishes with a space they both love and works for their family.
